The parish of Sacred Heart, Leighton Buzzard did a fantastic event inspired by CAFOD’s ‘Summer of Hope‘. From there, the Justice and Peace group has decided to take this further. Mary Flach, one of the members, writes :
“We wanted to extend the sentiment of hope into what we all fear may be a rather dark and dismal winter. As we all strive to remain positive, we plan to welcome 2021 with cheerful pots of hyacinth and miniature daffodils.
‘To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow’ is the Audrey Hepburn quote that triggered the group into action. Pots of tete-a-tete bulbs have been planted, watered and hidden away in the dark, ready for Christmas – as long as the mice don’t show too much interest in them!
There will be hyacinths too which will be sold in the parish to support CAFOD’s Coronavirus Appeal – helping others survive, rebuild and heal – working together for a better future for us all.”
What a fantastic idea and we look forward to hearing how this goes.
