Volunteers increase community spirit across Bedford

CAFOD volunteers from five parishes across Bedford met over yummy cake and coffee/tea on 23 July 2016 to see how they could better work together and support each other to promote CAFOD’s work in Bedford.

“It was really great to see the enthusiasm and passion the volunteers showed and how they were keen to raise the profile of CAFOD’s work in their parishes” noted Debbie Purfield (CAFOD Coordinator Northampton Diocese).  All were keen to work together  and they started putting plans in place to hold the Year of Mercy Pilgrimage as a joint Bedford event.  Fantastic!

The group also found a coordinator who would be the “link person” between the volunteers from the various parishes and some of the young members volunteered to promote events on  social media.  They also discussed involving the local catholic schools in parish events.

Catriona (parish volunteer – Christ the King) commented, “It is good that we will now be able to do more across the parishes and I feel so much more supported now that I can call on others”.

All the parishes are still looking for more volunteers to join them. If you would like to volunteer, please get in touch.
