Parishes across the Diocese have been finding new and usual ways for fundraising for the CAFOD Lent Appeal.
Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School in Wellingborough have raised over £500 by creating fun activities that the children can get involved in and help to fundraise.
I spoke to Berni, who works at the school and has been involved in CAFOD for 10 years:
“I have been fundraising on and off for about 10 years now but cannot remember what inspired me to start! I imagine it was working in a Catholic school plus having grown up seeing all the good work CAFOD carries out.
“The pupils at Our Lady’s have been obtaining sponsorship for fitting as many items as possible into a matchbox; their target was 40 items!”
“I also run a children’s choir and fun club – Edzplozion – and set them the challenge of raising money to add to our parish virtual village.
“They have also been buying tickets for an Easter Egg Raffle run by Mrs. Pitts – a TA at school. So far in Lent, the pupils have raised approx. £500.”
We would like to thank all the pupils and staff at Our Lady’s; their fundraising efforts will help to provide clean and safe water to many children across the world.
You can still donate to the Lent Appeal until May 9.
