Lent is a great time to get the local community involved in Parish activities from Lent Lunches to Quiz nights. It is a chance to meet new people, have fun whilst fundraising and raise awareness of the Lent appeal.
Parishioners at All Saints and St Thomas Aquinas in Bletchley have been busy this Lent; earlier this month, they held a ploughman’s lunch which raised over £100 and now they are holding a Quiz night at 7pm on 15 April at the Irish Centre in Milton Keynes.
Maggie Osgathorp, key volunteer at All Saints and St Thomas Aquinas said:
“I have been involved with CAFOD ever since I came to the parish in 1972, just helping with coffee mornings and various fundraising events. I can’t remember when I actually took over running events!

“We have a coffee morning on every third Sunday, 2 quizzes a year at our local Irish centre. I also run stalls whenever I have enough donations to sell, Lenten lunches and anything else that comes up. This year we have raised about £6,000, assisted by Government Match Funding.”
“On this occasion we are sharing the Quiz Night with our Quizmaster David who is running the London Marathon for a local charity. Milton Keynes SNAP who deliver a programme of education, life skills, work preparation and opportunities to adults with learning difficulties.”
We would like to thank All Saints and St Thomas Aquinas for all their hard work during Lent and thank Maggie for her amazing organisational skills.
