On Sunday, people across the country celebrated Mother’s Day by spending time with their mothers or giving small tokens of appreciation to say ‘thank you’.
Eden, a 9 year old from St Mary’s (Dunstable) went above and beyond the traditional Mother’s Day gift by holding a cake sale for the mothers of the parish with the aim of raising money for CAFOD’s Lent appeal. This will help mothers all over the world by providing clean water, training and sanitation.
The cake sale was an absolute success, with the cakes selling out and everyone leaving with full tummies and smiles on their faces.
Eden raised an amazing £110 with her bake sale! As CAFOD has been awarded match funding for the Lenten appeal, she will have raised £220. Fantastic work Eden!
Eden’s mum Tammy said:
Eden did great! It was practically a sell out! Eden now wants to be our Youth CAFOD rep. I’m so proud of her!”
Debbie Purfield (CAFOD coordinator Northampton) added, “I am so impressed with Eden. She wanted to help others and put her desire into action. She has given a ‘drink to the thirsty’ which is one of the corporal works of Mercy in this Jubilee year. Well done Eden!”
