The deacons of the Southern Region found a lay woman at their meeting on the 29 September.
Deacon Brin Dunsire, High Wycombe said, “We were pleased to welcome Deborah, (CAFOD Northampton) to the meeting . All Deacons have a sacred duty, flowing from their ordination, to become involved in some form of charitable / social-justice work, and CAFOD have a good claim on that duty, as the principal route for Catholic assistance to the needy beyond our shores. We were very struck by CAFOD’s “transferable expertise” in encouraging volunteers, motivating young people, and resourcing catechetical activities. They can help us, as we can help them ! “
Great to have such support from our deacons. Some have given the Fast Day talks in their parish and others have helped promote CAFOD’s work either by encouraging volunteers or using our amazing recourses. Deacon David Curtis, Great Missenden, has even agreed to help lead the CAFOD day of reflection for Lent 2016! Fabulous!
