CAFOD supporters from across Buckinghamshire joined together to continue to demonstrate support and solidarity for the families affected by the Philippines’ typhoon.

Parishioners held a Philippines night at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Leighton Buzzard and raised over £800.

The event was organised by the J&P group of the parish and attracted 45 people, including Filipinas from as far as Bletchley Parish, who travelled by bus to be there.

Vilma, a Filipina from Leighton Buzzard, and her husband Anthony, cooked some Filipino dishes with the help of their fellow parishioners.

Deborah Purfield, CAFOD’s Northampton Diocese Manager, spoke to the group about the work undertaken by the charity since the disaster in November 2013. She praised everyone for a marvellous event and effort.
