The parish youth group, at St Teresa of the Child Jesus Parish in Princes Risborough, took up the challenge to raise funds for child soldiers in Sierra Leone.
As I sat in a packed church waiting to be entertained I was struck by the compassion and energy of these young people, who had organised everything from printing the programmes to advertising the event.
Despite their nerves, the group danced, sang, told jokes, and spoke about the lives of three young people whose childhoods had been blighted by war.
The concert was a big success raising more than £1,800 for CAFOD’s Peace and Reconcilliation programme which supports former Child Soldiers and those who care for them.
The parish is moving on to look at the programme in the Congo where children continue to be recruited into armies and rebel forces.
